Can someone see in a peep hole?

I just went and checked mine - while they cannot see anything solid, if there's a light on or sun coming in, they will be able to see a shadow (I tested that also). Best bet - turn off the light when you first hear knocking. Because you're new to this apartment, it may have been a visitor for the previous tenant that didn't know the person had moved.
