Nikon prime lens help?

I've asked this question several times, but I just want as much info as I can get. So I'm planning on getting a prime lens, either the 35mm f/1.8 or 50mm f/1.8 (which doesn't autofocus on my nikon d3100). I'm going to take pictures of mostly people, and family/friends. What I'm wondering is, will the 35mm lens make peoples noses look really bigger? Like is it noticeable? I'm leaning towards the 35mm f/1.8 since it can AF and that can be useful when I don't want to miss a shot.... But I like the 50mm focal range better?
