My dog cries and pees himself if we try to take him outside the apartment?

I have a dog who I found on the streets also. When I first got her she refused to go out even when I tugged on her leash. I would open the door and even try to entice her with treats and she refused to walk through the door. It took about a month of me opening the door, picking her up and placing her on the other side of the doorway for her to understand that it was ok for her to go through the doorway. 3 years later she doesn't hesitate one bit and loves going outside. I think as long as you stay persistent with your dog you can get him to go outside without a problem but it will take some time and effort on your part.

I am a sophmore and I am doing a science fair project in which i see at what temperatere gastric acid is most effective in metabolizing glucose. to simulate gastric acid i was going to use HCL acid, and pepsin or renin as an enzyme, and see at what rate the glucose breaks down at different temperatures. I know that gastric juice contains pepsin, renin, and HCL, but i am not sure if gastric acid contains pepsin or renin. just to be sure, in what way is gastric juice used in digestion. any legitimate answers would be greatly welcomed.

You probably have a dual voltage motor which will be able to run on 120v or 240v, But be careful. To switch from one voltage to another, it needs to be wired differently inside. Some of the newer models make it easier for you. There's a switch that you simply move from 240v to 120v and vice versa. If you don't do this, you will burn the motor. If you don't see the switch, then your going to have to rewire it for 120v which is considered "low voltage"in this case. There should be a schematic on the motor which will show you how to wire it for low voltage or high voltage. If you don't understand it, please take it to a shop to do it. As for the wires going to the motor, it should have been sized so that you can use either voltage and still be safe, but you still need to check. The lower voltage will pull twice as much amps as the higher voltage, which will cause the wires to get hotter. You need to give more info on the motor to answer that (Horse power, Amperage). I've seen a 1 HP, 14/7amp motor on a swimming pool pump that had a 20 amp breaker, and I believe it was 10awg wires, so check the nameplate of the motor and ask again about the wire size. As for the electric bill, it will make no difference. You are charged by the wattage or the VA volt-amps. To get that, you multiply the voltage being used and the amperage, which will come out to the same regardless which voltage you use, But I believe that the higher voltage is more efficient. It will make sense that with the higher voltage/ lower amperage, the motor will last longer too, because of less heat generated. If given the choice, go with the higher voltage. Are you sure the timer was a 240v? It should have been using 120v even before your rewiring. Just like a clock on an electric oven. The oven is using 240v, but the clock is using 120v. It's wired that way inside. You probably just didn't realize it. So have you tried it already? Does it even work? Do some more research on wire sizing for motors. It's not the same method as a regular lighting circuit. Good luck.

In line with a previous answer, I believe you can ask your neighbor to extend the venting upward so that it is at point where the exhaust travels upward over the house and not onto your house. This may look odd, as a pipe will be attached to his home's exterior traveling upward. And it will be at a cost to him. But, I also believe there must be some local laws which will require him to do so if it causes damage or if it presents any safety concerns regarding you and/or your home. I'd check into the local building codes and laws and then discuss this with your neighbor.

Any Pediatric doctors out there?

I have a 3 year old daughter who has had a hoarse cough with phlegm for about a month.. at first the doctors told me it was croup....when she didn't get better they told me it was a virus...when she developed a rash (which has gone away now) on her neck face and arms they told me it was viral rash and not to worry...and now she has a bulging vein on the right side of her neck...it is about 1/2 inch think and runs from the top of her neck to the bottom. I am taking her in again tomorrow, does anyone have any suggestions what it could be? Or what I could ask the doctor to check? I am extremely worried about her. Also, other then the cough and vein she seems healthy and energetic. One more important note, she has developed dark circles under her eyes, and she is not dehydrated or malnourished at all.

Really bad stomach gas...?

To fully understand, we need to go back to where this all started: In April, I got my cartilage on my ear peirced, a week after getting it the peircing site got very infected, and the infection spread to my jaw and face. I was in and out of the hospital with fevers, allergic reactions to antibiotics, etc for about a week. I was put on 2 pill antibiotcs: Doxycycline and Septra DS, I was also given a rocephin shot. 3 days after being on these medications I experianced some bad side effects and allergic reactions, I was taken off of the pills and put on a strong dosage Keflex, while on ALL of these antibiotics, including Keflex, I have had really bad gas and constipation. I finished the Keflex about 5 days ago but still am experiancing gas. It is in my upper stomach and gets SO bad that I cant even get up and move around. I tried drinking ginger ale to help relieve some a little and it doesnt help. Also, I am on Nexium for heart burn but havnt been taking it because I feel my heart burn has been under control. Is gas a side effect of heart burn and are these antibiotics the reason I have gas? What can I do to help get my digestive system back to normal?? Any advice?

I was scheduled to ovulate on July 4 2009. I never experience what is have during ovulation. Today which was July 9, 2009 I had the dull pain on one side. I lasted basically all day. Nikon prime lens help?

I've asked this question several times, but I just want as much info as I can get. So I'm planning on getting a prime lens, either the 35mm f/1.8 or 50mm f/1.8 (which doesn't autofocus on my nikon d3100). I'm going to take pictures of mostly people, and family/friends. What I'm wondering is, will the 35mm lens make peoples noses look really bigger? Like is it noticeable? I'm not all aboard the universal healthcare bandwagon either. I've studied a bit of the systems in Japan, Netherlands, France, and Germany and must say I'm not impressed. Healthcare facilities can't afford to make necessary updates on medical equipment, nor can they afford to make necessary additions to the hospitals in order to take in the ill which causes a major crowding problem. You also do not have your choice of doctors, and if hospitalized your PCP can't come in to treat you. Furthermore, waiting times to see physicians are insanely high...you could wait months before getting in because they don't run on an appointment system like we have in the U.S. While their may be a few advantages of it, overall it's not ideal.

I run 2 miles with my 9 year old. Too much/too little? She is aiming to get into the sprint team.?

I started running with my 9 year old daughter in September 2007 by running a minute, walking a minute. She now runs 2 miles, 3 days a week. She often gets a stitch but usually manages to run through it as I tell her to steady her breathing. Am I being too hard on her? She is doing the running to get into the school sprint and relay team like her sister. She is fast but not fast enough. They are all solid schools. But its not where you go to school, its about what you do once you get there. Go to the school that you feel you will fit into the best. definitely a bad choice, sorry. this breed has huge amounts of energy, love mischief, can be snappy with kids of ANY age even adults, need lots of interaction and toys so they don't tear your apartment up. they shed like crazy but they are NOT hypoallergenic dogs, not sure where you found that. what causes allergies with animals is the dander, not the hair. and remember, hypo means decreased NOT completely free. They are huge barkers and its really hard to keep them quiet by discipline alone, many people use bark collars or sound devices. many people find these cruel and if you do too, definitely not good. if you get one as a young puppy then you can work on preventing barking but you have to be very diligent about it along with ALL people in the house. They are very social dogs, they love being with people all the time but when they are left behind thats where you will see barking, whining, howling and destructive behaviors. they are great dogs if you have the time and patience but it sounds like you won't have enough time. Suggestions depend on what personality traits you do and don't want as well as size. a puppy isn't a great choice if you can't take them outside to potty frequently. Jack Russel Terriers are an independent breed but love interacting with people of all ages. they are smart and can get in trouble but if you provide toys and lots of fetch time they do well. Terriers have wire hair that is more noticeable in some and not in others. best part, they don't shed! they do a little but you will never know. They are perfect family pets and VERY smart making them easy to train. they do bark but can be trained not to easily. out of all the small breeds russels have the least health problems and are low maintenance. Even West Highland Terriers, Scottish Terriers and Cairn Terriers will work for you. basically the same as the russel but their hair is longer and needs to be groomed, health concerns are low but an increased chance of disease makes them a little more pricey at the vet. these are the breeds that i enjoy working with and haven't had any problems with. there are many others too but you have to consider these: do you have a local breeder to buy from, if not, where are you buying? research the breeders and get opinions of people who use that breeder. buying from a pet store means they come from puppy mills and are very poorly bred and live in horrible conditions, buying from them keeps them open and allows them to continue their abuse and cruelty. have time for training, hopefully professional. russels are smart and train easily and quickly. do you have enough energy to keep up with a small dog? do you want one that requires grooming or low maintenance? many small breeds have problems with their teeth, can you afford products to prevent periodontal disease and have dental cleanings through out their life? short hair, long hair, smooth coat, wire coat, energy level, train-ability level, potential disease or health concerns are common in many, specific traits you want or don't and many more. Thanks to puppy mills and backyard breeders ruining bloodlines and breeds, buying a dog is harder than buying a car! I highly recommend that you research everything in great detail and DON'T buy the first one you see and make sure their is a contract from the breeder outlining guaranteed health with no genetic problems and what they will do if there is. shelter dogs make it so much easier! i hope this makes sense and i didn't bounce around too much! research is your friend as well as opinions of those involved. Since coming back from that trip, things weren't the same and I could just tell. As hard as I was trying to make it work, it just felt like it was too late and she had already made up her mind. I approached her about it and needed to know what was going on in her head. She told me she had no idea what to do or what she wanted. She knows she loves me and wants to be with me but wants to get her priorities straightened out and is trying to listen to God and be with Him for a while before she can give everything to me. Trying to be as mature as possible, I told her I completely understood and want her to figure herself out just as I need to as well. But I don't know where this leaves us now. I told her time and space away from each other is probably whats best for now in order to give us the best chance of being together later. I don't want this of course but told her anyway. I'm so confused on how to approach this whole situation. I feel heartbroken knowing that we're in love with each other but can't be with each other at the moment. Better to install ducts on the inside of home walls, or outside the walls then encase them in drywall?

I added a heat duct to an old farmhouse I had back in Ohio. I ran the duct in a corner of an extra room built a frame around it and sheetrocked it. It looked fine. Obviously in the wall is ideal if your doing several but you will need to choose your walls carefully. Pick walls that dont have plumbing. That should be very easy as most walls dont have plumbing except in a kitchen or in a bathroom wall. The worst thing that can happen is you will find a wire that is running to an outlet. This can be easily relocated around the duct. Its really just preference. If you choose outside the walls you are going to be seeing it as long as you live there and probably someday wishing you had put it in the wall. If your insulation in your walls was blown in instead of using roll insulation, prepare for a mess when they cut the wall open. Good Luck.

You really can't teach yourself martial arts effectively. For some of you that say you can't teach yourself martial arts, look up Rich Franklin. He learned submission fighting from instructional videos. Anyways, the best you could do is watch some videos and read books. so i have an aquarium that i kept a sorority of bettas in (all females with plenty of places to hide, don't lecture me, they never got in fights) over the past few months i am down to only one female, and i'm concerned theres something theyre not getting that's lowering their immune system..i keep their stress down to a minimum by covering the output of the filter with plants and such to reduce water current and feeding them a variety of foods i can get my hands on (organic peas cooked and chopped up, frozen blood worms and brine shrimp when i can along with their main feed source of freeze-dried bloodworms. i add the water conditioner whenever new water is added to their tank. the majority of deaths my fishes come to is from fin rot, but i just lost a crowntail that seemed healthy, but in her final days was swimming weirdly and beggining to linger in one spot for hours and hours. the remaining fish appears healthy, her color is as vibrant as when i bought her and she eats well and swims normally, but i wanted to add some tetras or glofish to the tank, probably just a small school of neon tetras after i give the tank a thorough cleaning to get rid of any bacteria/disease that may be there from the dead fish (i always tried to quarantine sick-looking fish so they wouldent die in the tank with the others, but the crowntail died soon after showing symptoms of ill-health) anyways, is there any sort of chemical or something i could add to the water to boost the immune systems of the bettas/tetras? would adding a live plant help? if so, what kind?

But if you are speaking of a God or deity in general, I would point to the big bang, if there is no God who created the original m that exploded to create the universe. Experienced artists please....using a fixative?

I'm pretty much done with a painting I've been working on and want to use a fixative. Don't know if this is important, but i used oil pastel in some parts, acrylic in others, and oil paint as well. Last night I finished off a corner of gr with water soluble oil paint, and it seems to be drying faster than regular oil paint, but my question is can I spray it this early or does it have to be completely dry? Also how much will my colors change? Is there a difference of what gloss, semi gloss, and matte do to it (of course besides the shine, ie do they change colors differently)? If anyone can answer those three questions I'd appreciate it, thank you!!

Florida medically needy program.........?

Ok... I am REALLY confused! I'm a full-time student and single mom and to finish getting through college I have relied on the Florida state Medicaid program to cover my 3 year old and my own medical and prescription costs. I have always qualified for the state program in the pasts but this last time I applied I recieved a letter of denial saying that I make $96 over the income limit so I only qualify for the "Medically Needy" program. First of all I don't work so I have no "income" per say the only thing I do recieve is child support and some help from my mother (thank god) in order to make it by each month. I've called and spoke with a couple different people through the medicaid hotline number but I have been told different things both times, none which make total sense ): So I guess what I am asking is if there is anybody else out there who has any actuall experience with using or dealing with this "Medically Needy" program that could offer me some advise.
